Shilajit Fulvic Acid: 10% vs 70% — What Every Brand Needs to Know Before Manufacturing
Fulvic acid percentage is the single most important quality marker in Shilajit — yet most brands launching a Shilajit product have no idea what it means or how to verify it.
What Is Fulvic Acid and Why Does It Matter?
Fulvic acid is the primary bioactive compound in Shilajit — and the most important quality marker for any Shilajit product. It is a naturally occurring organic acid formed through the decomposition of plant matter over centuries.
It is responsible for most of Shilajit's documented benefits: enhanced cellular energy (ATP production), mineral transport across cell membranes, antioxidant activity, cognitive support and adaptation to physical stress.
The higher the fulvic acid concentration, the more potent the Shilajit. This is why fulvic acid percentage is the first thing any quality-conscious brand should ask about when sourcing Shilajit.
The Spectrum: 10% to 70%
| Fulvic Acid % | Quality Tier | Typical CoA Reference | Brand Positioning | Export Viability |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10% | Entry | Minimum viable | Budget / mass market | Domestic only |
| 20% | Standard Entry | Basic quality | Entry-level wellness | Limited |
| 30% | Standard | Industry average | Health store brands | Some markets |
| 40% | Good | Above average | Quality D2C brands | Most markets |
| 50% | Premium | Premium grade | Premium wellness brands | US, EU, UAE |
| 60% | High Premium | High potency | Serious wellness consumers | US, EU, UAE |
| 70% | Ultra Premium | Maximum achievable | Luxury wellness, athletes | All markets |
What Most Brands Get Wrong
The most common mistake brands make is choosing Shilajit based purely on price — without understanding that price correlates directly with fulvic acid concentration. A manufacturer offering Shilajit at ₹200/kg is not offering 60% fulvic acid Shilajit. Genuine high-grade Shilajit costs significantly more to produce.
Rule of thumb: If the price seems too good to be true, the fulvic acid percentage probably doesn't match the claim. Always verify with independent CoA testing before launching your product.
How to Verify Fulvic Acid Percentage
There are three levels of verification:
1. Manufacturer's CoA
Every reputable manufacturer provides a Certificate of Analysis for each batch. This should specify the exact fulvic acid percentage tested by an accredited laboratory. This is the minimum you should accept.
2. Third-Party Lab Testing
For launch quantities, send a sample to an independent NABL-accredited laboratory for independent fulvic acid testing. This adds 7–10 days but gives you independent verification to use in your marketing.
3. HPLC Method
High-Performance Liquid Chromatography is the gold standard testing method for fulvic acid quantification. Ask your manufacturer if their CoA uses HPLC methodology.
Which Grade Should Your Brand Choose?
Mass market / pharmacy brands: 20%–30% is cost-effective and meets most regulatory requirements.
Quality D2C brands: 40%–50% positions you above mass market without prohibitive cost.
Premium D2C / export brands: 60%–70% is the grade for brands competing on quality, not price. This is where the most loyal customers and highest margins exist.
At Anmolveda Wellness, we offer the complete range from 10% to 70% — with verified CoA for each grade. We are one of the very few manufacturers in India who can genuinely supply the full spectrum, which is why so many export brands and premium D2C brands choose us as their manufacturing partner.
